What We Do
Columbus Ohio Saves encourages and assists individuals to build wealth by setting goals to save money and reduce debt. We deliver this message and service in two ways:
- A public awareness campaign encourages Columbus residents to identify a savings goal and enroll as a Saver
- Through mass media and grassroots efforts, Saves delivers the motivational message of achieving financial security
Saves programs and services offer tools that complement existing financial education programs. These tools are available to all Columbus Ohio Savers and include:
- Wealth-building workshops that motivate people to save and plan
- Free one-on-one mentoring and on-going support with a volunteer coach
- A wide range of no-fee or reduced-fee financial products including savings accounts, mutual funds, IRAs, etc.
- Free how-to seminars on specific financial planning topics
- Access to the Columbus Saves Moneyline at 614-866-6900 ext: 203 or 206 that Savers can call with financial questions or for referrals to additional resources
- Collaboration of community programs to help Savers become financially secure, such as "Get Checking" to persons on ChexSystems and Micro-enterprise classes
- Subscription to the quarterly American Saver newsletter with financial news, savings tips, and motivational stories
