Who We Are

Mission Statement:

Columbus Saves purpose is to promote and increase saving and the accumulation of wealth among individuals and families in Central Ohio through education and awareness with the assistance of a broad base of community partners.

Executive Summary:

Columbus Saves is a community coalition made up of local organizations representing education, nonprofit, government, and the private sectors.   The fundamental goal of Columbus Saves is to convince the residents of Central Ohio that they can build wealth and to assist them in doing so. Columbus Saves accomplishs this through a community wide education and awareness campaign that focuses on providing the information and tools needed to allow individuals and families in Central Ohio the opportunity to save and build wealth.

Organizational Overview:

Columbus Saves is a local effort of America Saves, a national campaign that encourages individuals and families to save and build wealth.  America Saves is a program of the Washington based Consumer Federation of America and counts non-profits, corporations and foundations among its supporters.  The OSU Extension, Franklin County Office is the primary sponsor of Columbus Saves.   A committee consisting of financial institutions and community-based organizations have worked together since 2003 to develop the program. Columbus Saves for Central Ohio celebrated its’ community wide kick-off on October 5, 2004.
